Agentic Engineer

About the Role

An Agentic Engineer designs, builds, and deploys autonomous AI agents or multi-agent systems that plan, decide, act, and self-correct, in other words, intelligent systems that operate with minimal human oversight to achieve goals

What you'll Do

Architect, implement, and maintain autonomous AI agents that interact with applicants, case managers, and employers across BuildWithin’s platform.
Develop multi-step, goal-directed agents using frameworks like LangChain, LangGraph, or OpenAI's Agents SDK
Build and maintain RAG pipelines, reflection loops, prompt chains, and safety guardrails to ensure reliability and compliance
Implement real-time monitoring, logging, and observability for agent behaviors, errors, and outcomes
Optimize agent cost-efficiency and latency by managing prompt templates, caching strategies, and model selection (OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini, etc.)
Work with product, data, and engineering teams to integrate agents into existing workflows while maintaining SOC 2 and data governance standards
Test agent systems against real-world scenarios, edge cases, and usage loads to ensure scalability and accuracy

Qualifications

5+ years of software engineering experience, including significant work in Python and TypeScript
Proven experience deploying LLM-powered agents in production environments
Deep knowledge of LLM APIs, prompt engineering, and orchestration frameworks such as LangChain or similar
Familiarity with RAG architecture, vector search (Qdrant, Pinecone, Weaviate, etc.), and embeddings
Experience integrating with cloud services, RESTful APIs, and microservices
Ability to implement guardrails, human-in-the-loop systems, and observability tools for agentic workflows
Strong systems thinking, problem-solving ability, and collaborative mindset
